The One Troy Ounce American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States.
The American Eagle Silver Bullion Coin is the only investment-grade silver bullion coin produced by the U.S. Mint, and whose weight, content and purity are guaranteed by the United States Government.

Since 1986, the United States has minted one-dollar silver coins called “Silver Eagles.” Each contains a minimum of one troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver.

The obverse (front) of the coin is based on Adolph A. Weinman’s 1916 Walking Liberty half dollar.

The reverse (back) of the coin depicts an eagle situated beneath 13 stars, representing the original colonies.
